Privacy Policy
This policy describes the data the Trevi iOS application (the "Service", "we", "Trevi") collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding it. The Service is operated by Berk Özkasli as an independent developer. Contact us at hello@gettreviapp.com.
1. Data we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and the name you choose to display. These are stored in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cognito and used to identify your account. Your password is hashed by Cognito and never stored or transmitted in plain text.
Location
When you grant location permission, the Service collects your device location to provide the Service's functionality. Location data is associated with your account so it can be synced across devices you sign in on. We do not share location data with third parties for advertising and we do not use it for cross-app tracking.
Activity within the Service
We record activity within the app that is necessary to provide its functionality — for example, identifiers for the items you interact with and the timestamps of those interactions. The same data is synced to your account so it follows you across devices.
What we do not collect
- We do not collect contacts, microphone audio, photo library, or pasteboard contents.
- We do not use any third-party analytics SDK (no Firebase, Mixpanel, or similar).
- We do not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not show advertisements and do not share data with advertisers.
2. How we use the data
Everything we collect is used to provide the Service: authenticating you, syncing your content across devices, and showing your activity within the app. We do not sell or share your personal data with any third party for marketing.
3. Third-party services
The Service relies on a small number of third-party infrastructure providers. None of them receive your account credentials, and the data sent to each is limited to what they need to perform their function.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — hosts the Trevi backend (compute, storage, database, content delivery). All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Region: eu-central-1 (Frankfurt, Germany).
- Google Maps SDK — renders maps inside the app. Google may collect device and usage data subject to Google's privacy policy.
- Sentry — collects anonymous crash reports and error diagnostics so we can fix bugs. Crash reports may include device model, OS version, and a stack trace; they do not include your account credentials, location, or saved content.
4. Data retention
Your account data and synced content remain in your AWS account for as long as the account exists. Anonymous crash reports are retained for 90 days.
5. Your rights
- Access — email us at hello@gettreviapp.com and we will send you a copy of the data we have on file.
- Correction — most fields are editable in-app.
- Deletion — open the app → Profile → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and synced content within 24 hours. You can also email us to request manual deletion.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under the GDPR (or equivalents). We honour all such requests in good faith — write to us.
6. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has signed up, please contact us and we will delete the account.
7. Security
All traffic between the app and the backend uses HTTPS (TLS 1.2 or higher). Passwords are hashed by AWS Cognito and never stored or transmitted in plain text. Stored data is encrypted at rest using AWS-managed keys.
8. International transfers
The Service's backend is hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt). If you are outside the EU, your data is transferred to and stored in the EU. AWS provides Standard Contractual Clauses for these transfers where required.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you inside the app. Continued use of the Service after a change indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
